Eden got her big break as a recurring sketch performer on “The Johnny Carson Show” in 1955. She then shot to fame with her role as the titular 2,000-year-old genie in “I Dream of Jeannie” in the 1960s.

After a 70-year career, the actress and singer stopped working professionally once she turned 90, though she’s continued to make appearances at fan conventions.

On her 92nd birthday in 2023, Eden told People that fans surprisingly remember her smaller acting roles.

“Every time I make a personal appearance, someone comes up and asks me about the manicurist, which I did one episode as on ‘The Andy Griffith Show,’” she explained.

“I also did one episode of ‘I Love Lucy,’ and fans remember that, too,” Eden shared. “When I was doing it, I just didn’t think about it, that it would ever live that long or people would remember it.”

Eden explained that her love for acting kept her in the business for so long.

“All through the years, I’ve noticed that many people don’t realize what a joy it is and what a gift it is to be able to work in an arena that you really love,” she said. “So many people have to work in jobs they hate, and they have to do it just for sustenance, but aren’t we lucky when we can study for something, enjoy it and know that other people enjoy it?”
